The rabbit of the moon

On a chilly night in a dense forest, a woman, beauteaous and hungry wandered. She stopped and kindled a fire, its glow and warmth pierced the night’s darkness. Attracted by the light, a rabbit approached.

—Little bunny, I feel weak, I am cold and famished, I do not know the forest and I cannot find a cure for my hunger… Could you please find me anything to eat?

The rabbit, felt compassionate about her, but he was unable to swiftly provide her with anything, so he made a heartrending decision: With a resolve born of compassion he spoke to her, “I have nothing but myself to offer”, and with that, he bravely leaped into the fireplace.

But instead of being cooked by the flames, the rabbit remained unharmed. The woman then revealed her true identity she was the goddess of the moon. Touched by the rabbit’s selfless act, she decided to honor this noble creature.

She invited the rabbit to join her at her palace in the moon, granting him a place of honor and immortality among the stars. And so, when we gaze upon the moon each night, we see the silhouette of the rabbit, a symbol of solidarity and selflessness, eternally etched in the moon’s luminous face.
